Trauma can evolve from any event that involves experiencing or witnessing something highly stressful, overwhelming or unbearable. Trauma can affect those who are directly exposed to the event and also loved ones and others around us.
 
Although as humans, we are highly resilient beings, it is likely that any type of trauma will have an emotional effect on someone, and everyone will have different responses and recoveries. Some people might recover relatively quickly through the help of their support system around them. For others, the traces of trauma can be long-term and have a significant impact on people’s lives.
